![]() Women's Studies Research Center, Brandeis UniversityWaltham, Massachusetts Working with Truant on the construction of the new 10,000 square foot facility was an enjoyable, humorous, smooth experience… What stood out for me was the steady competence, unruffled demeanor, the pride in their work, and willingness to listen to everyone involved. I never felt they were trying to inflate prices or design ideas… they cared about the same things that I did. The Women's Studies Research Center at Brandeis University was conceived as a space to house multidisciplinary research in the area of international feminism, women's history, and gender equity. Construction involved the adaptive re-use of 10,000 square feet of industrial warehouse space in a gateway building to the Brandeis campus. Custom and ergonomically designed wood armoires (in lieu of cubicles) are a special feature of the shared office space. Photographs: Anton Grassl |
