![]() Metcalfe ResidenceBoston, Massachusetts Unusual materials were used to transform a 19th century Back Bay townhouse into a unique living space suitable for the inventor of the Ethernet and his family. Unique features include exceptional custom millwork, an elevator, and a refurbished wooden staircase. An existing cast iron oven was successfully incorporated into the construction of a modern kitchen in the basement. A glass floor between the master bathroom and the stairwell leading to the top floor addition provides a dramatic contemporary look on the upper levels of the house. Photographs: Barbara Bosworth |
